It was a last minute decision of going up to Baguio and Pat wanted accommodation within Session road so that most of the establishments are accessible.Hotel Veniz was recommended by his friend. We called them directly to book our room.
We arrived around 5am in the morning in Baguio. it was too early to check in but I was so sleepy that I wish to do early check in if not for the addition half day’s rate.We left our things instead.
We went back around past 10 in the morning to have an early check-in. One of the reason why I agreed to this hotel because they allow early check in. But to my dismay, they told us that there was no available room for early check in. I was even willing to get the higher room rate they were offering when we arrived. This room is now unavailable too. I could say that we didn’t start good in here. I was tired and sleepy and no encouraging info from the front desk. A lot of guest has already checked out around 11am. Instead of going out, we had our lunch at Cafe Veniz, which was totally ruining my mood. It’s on the second floor. The food doesn’t taste good plus the environment is so noisy making my head hurts. Pat and I were even discussing about it. I was asking him if i was just being biased because of the bad mood and reconfirmed that it’s really noisy.
Next thing we saw was that some of the guest who came later than we did had their orders already. After frequent follow-up our orders came one at a time. Arggh! Talk about bad service.
We went down around 1pm, Pat asked the front desk if there are now available rooms since most of the waiting guest had already checked-in. He was told that no rooms available yet. He was trying to pacify me by reminding me that perhaps that those check out and check in was for a different room type which at that time is not helping me. hehe.
I went to the front desk and told them that i wanted to refund our payment this morning and we will be checking a different hotel. And it was a magic word. A room instantly became available.
Our room was at 5th floor. Room rate for a standard room is P1775/night with buffet breakfast included. We had 2 twin beds which we arranged to make 1 big bed, a cable tv, hot and cold shower, a safety box and closet and a coffee table with 2 seats. The room and bathroom are quite spacious. One of the cheaper hotels considering it’s location.
The next day, we went to the Grille Cafe for our buffet breakfast. I was even expecting a lousy food and bad customer service. But to my surprise, the food tastes good and all the staffs are really nice and accommodating. They would frequently refill the trays. We paid an additional P175 for Aaron.
What really made me love the Grille Cafe is that they allowed us to design the cake that we bought for Pat. Aaron enjoyed our activity of decorating the cake with a happy birthday message using a colored gel icing.
Overall, It was a mix of good and bad for us staying in Hotel Veniz. I would still recommend it but should we return, we want to try a different accommodation. You might want to check our itinerary here.
RATE: 7/10 (for the making us believe of an early check in option, for the not so good customer service from thew front desk and the Cafe Veniz staff and lastly for the stinky CR on the hotel lobby which was one of the common reviews about them.I even filled up all their suggestion and feedback forms included in our check in.
