Some raved about McCoy’s Pizza dishes so we tried having our lunch there last March 3. The place is small and cozy. Staffs are nice. Food prices are the same with that of the common fast food joints like Jollibee or Mc Donalds.
You can’t go wrong with a fried pork chop. hehe! The salad consists of lettuce, cabbage shreds, carrot strips, cucumber and a thousand island dressing. The fried chicken is a little bland for me. The pasta used for the spaghetti is more like a generic brand, soggy and hard. the gravy and mushroom soup is diluted and bland. The 2 small pizza are thick with toppings and tastes good.
How to get there:Located in National highway.
Ride a tricycle. fare starts @P8/pax depending on your location. Or via multicab or jeep for P8/pax. Inform the driver to drop you at McCoys.
Most of my guests would often ask me. “Where else can we go if we only have more than half a day before our flight?” If you’re a beach lover, one of my answer would be in White Beach.
Many of the hotels would advertise that there location is near or in front of a white beach. Honestly, I still consider Pristine white Beach as the only local beach where you could really swim. Most of the other local beaches in the city proper are either too muddy or the water is low enough for swimming.
When we were kids, this is our to go place for a family gathering. It quite popular to the locals. I can’t even remember what name came first, Nasin-aw or Silica. All I can remember is that we call it WHITE BEACH. If my memory serves me right, it used to be a whole beach then it was divided into 2 or 3 by the owners hence came Nasin-aw, Silica and Pristine, where they have separate entrance routes from the highway.
Now, only Pristine white beach is in operation. The road is still not cemented but it looks way better now.
Entrance fee is affordable. Cottages, tables and chair are available for rent. If you only plan to visit for a short period of time and don’t mind sitting on the sand, no need to pay the rentals. Food and snacks are also available but I haven’t tried their dishes since I always bring our own Pica pica and baon when we go there.
I highly recommended this beach if you have spare time in Puerto Princesa particularly for those who have kids and toddlers since the water is calm. I prefer bringing my son here compared to the beaches in Honda Bay since he doesn’t like it when he see waves, even small waves. The water level is low enough for kids to enjoy and could be high enough too for adults specially during high tide.
How to go there: hire a tricycle for P30-50.oo. Regular fare rate is P10/pax. The location is quite remote but there is now a tricycle terminal near the gate entrance. Tricycle hire starts at P50-60 depending on your location. You could also get your tricycle driver’s number to be safe, just in case there’s no available vehicle in their terminal since transportation is scarce in the area.
